Protecting Your Privacy
GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation and has been enhanced protect the personal data of European Union (EU) citizens. The responsibility is on organizations to not only secure this data but get consent for collection of data and delete it upon request. GDPR may be in place for the security of EU citizens, but any business that collects data of EU citizens must comply with these laws (e.g. VMUG).
Personal data is defined by GDPR as “any information related to a natural person or ‘Data Subject’, that can be used to directly or indirectly identify the person. It can be anything from a name, a photo, an email address, posts on social networking websites, medical information, or a computer IP address.” For more information, visit https://www.eugdpr.org/.
While many requirements within GDPR were already in place with VMUG, we continue working with our data and legal teams to ensure compliance is met across our organization. The enhanced privacy regulations for European Union citizens is a best practice that VMUG will apply for all organization members. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to email@example.com.
As future updates on GDPR become available, we will post them here.
